Description
This factory-original 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is powered by a 396/360hp L34 V-8 engine paired with a M20 wide-ratio Muncie four-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt Positraction rear end with original 3.31 ring-and-pinion and a new ceramic clutch. Although Chevrolet did not consistently stamp the VIN on all engines in 1966, the engine is a factory-correct 396/360hp L34 V-8 with the correct EF suffix code following the assembly date on the deck pad and the correct block casting date. It also has the correct high-rise cast-iron intake manifold with “Holley” casting, correct Holley carburetor, date-coded plug wires and point ignition. The extensive frame-off restoration included rebuilding the engine and transmission. The rear end was also completely rebuilt with new bearings and retains its gear-ratio stamping on the axle housing. The original frame and all suspension components were restored to factory-original specifications, including all bushings and Eaton springs. A complete factory-style Gardner exhaust system is installed from front to back. The factory steel body panels were retained except for professionally replaced floor pans. The car retains its factory-equipped power steering and power brakes. The car is finished in its original color of Marina Blue using basecoat/clearcoat, per the paint code on the firewall data plate. Exterior equipment includes date-coded glass with original rear glass, T3 headlights and restored powder-coated original steel wheels fitted with new BFGoodrich 7.75-14 Silvertown bias-ply red-line tires. A new matching spare, restored jack and four unrestored full mag hubcaps are included with the sale. The interior is finished in Medium Bright Blue as decoded from the firewall data plate and was professionally restored using Legendary interior products. The car retains its factory-equipped bucket seats with console, sport steering wheel on a tilt steering column, knee-knocker tachometer and rear speaker with fade control. The restoration incorporated numerous NOS parts. A custom-fitted car cover is also included in the sale, as is the original restored radiator is included (a U.S. Radiator unit is currently installed). An included NCRS Shipping Data Report states that the car was delivered to Normac Motor Company in Grangeville, Idaho. The car has accumulated 2,500 miles and has been stored in a climate-controlled facility since completion of the restoration in 2024.
