1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport has undergone a full body-off-frame rotisserie restoration, with attention given to both the appearance of the car and how it performs and drives. It’s a factory big-block, four-speed car that retains the classic character you’d expect from a ’66 Chevelle SS while incorporating a number of well-thought-out performance and comfort upgrades.

Under the hood is a 396ci big-block V8 with solid lifters, dual four-barrel carburetors, headers, H.E.I. ignition, and a four-row aluminum radiator. It’s backed by an M21 four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter and a heavy-duty 3,500-pound spring clutch. Out back is a 12-bolt rear end with 4.11 gears.

The suspension and braking have also been upgraded. The car is equipped with true coil-over shocks, dropped spindles, heavy-duty sway bars, and front disc brakes. It sits on 15x8 Cragar wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires, with 235/60s up front and 255/60s in the rear, giving it the stance you want on a classic Chevelle without taking away from the overall look of the car.
