Description
This 910 re-creation race car was constructed in 2012 by ID8 Design in Sonoma, California, as a rolling chassis for the Wilson Collection in Florida, where it was subsequently completed with the installation of a Willison Werkstatt-built 2.8-liter flat-six engine. Designed as a faithful tribute to the legendary Porsche 910, the car replicates the lightweight construction and competition-focused engineering of the original 1960s race cars.
The Porsche 910 debuted in 1966 as a successor to the 906, achieving notable success including a sweep of the top four positions at the 1967 Nürburgring 1000 km and victory at the 1967 Targa Florio. This re-creation mirrors the original’s formula, utilizing a tubular spaceframe chassis with lightweight fiberglass bodywork and Formula 1-style 13” center-lock wheels.
The chassis incorporates additional reinforcement within the roll-hoop structure, while the drivetrain and mechanical systems were purpose-built for performance. The 2.8L flat-six, built in 2013, features mechanical fuel injection, slide-valve throttle bodies, and twin-plug ignition with modern engine management, delivering a period-correct yet highly capable powerplant.
