Description
This 1966 Porsche 912 coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2010 and was subsequently modified with a 2.2-liter flat-six equipped with dual Weber carburetors and a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. The car was repainted in Guards Red and fitted with 911R-style taillights, Talbot-style mirrors, replacement floor pans, and 15″ Fuchs-style wheels with body-color accents. It rides on Bilstein shocks with adjustable sway bars, Turbo torsion bars, 930-specification front suspension, and Elephant Racing bushings. The interior houses a six-point roll bar, Lexan side windows with leather pull straps, a MOMO steering wheel, and multi-point harnesses. Work performed in preparation for the sale by Rothsport, Inc. of Sherwood, Oregon, totaled ~$10k and involved replacing the steering rack and servicing the brakes with a replacement 19mm two-stage master cylinder, front rotors, and all four pads before the car was corner-weighted and the suspension aligned. Additionally, the carburetors were adjusted, a factory-specification throttle pedal installed, and various replacement ignition components were fitted including a PerTronix ignitor and the battery. This SWB 912 coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with service records, spare parts, and a clean Oregon title in the owner’s name. The car came finished from the factory in Bahama Yellow (6605) and was repainted in Guards Red under current ownership. The floor pans and front suspension pan were replaced and rust repair was performed in the rockers and other areas. The bumper trim and antenna were deleted and the mounting holes welded at that time, and Talbot-style mirrors, 911R-style taillights, and body-color rear bumper guards were installed. The window frames and door handles were refinished in metallic gray to match the mirrors.
