1967 Chevrolet Impala 890-S – Gold vinyl, SS bucket seats

1967 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport SS 427 ZZ4 5-Spd Convertible Restored Chevrolet's full-size Super Sport models reached their peak during the late 1960s, combining unmistakable styling, effortless comfort, and big-block performance into one unforgettable package. This 1967 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Convertible captures everything enthusiasts love about the era while benefiting from a carefully executed frame-off restoration and upgraded performance that makes it even more enjoyable to drive today. Restored between 2009 and 2012 with receipts documenting the work performed, this genuine factory Super Sport has been transformed into an investment-quality example that blends originality with tasteful performance enhancements. Finished in its factory-correct Granada Gold with a black convertible top, the car retains the elegant appearance that made Chevrolet's flagship performance convertible one of the most desirable full-size cars of its day. The body tag confirms a third-week-of-May 1967 production date at Chevrolet's Tarrytown, New York assembly plant. It is identified as Style 16867, a genuine Impala Super Sport two-door convertible, trimmed with Gold vinyl SS bucket seats under Trim Code 890-S and finished in Paint Code G-2 Granada Gold with a black convertible top. One of the most striking features of this Impala is its rare Z24 hood, a highly desirable option that gives the car a more aggressive appearance while setting it apart from most Super Sports. Red and black pinstriping complements the Granada Gold finish, while redline tires complete the unmistakable 1960s performance look. With the power-operated convertible top lowered and the original convertible boot installed, the car has the timeless profile that has made full-size Chevrolet convertibles so collectible. Under the hood is where this Impala truly shines. Replacing the original engine is a Chevrolet 427 ZZ4 crate engine producing an impressive 390 horsepower. Equipped with aluminum cylinder heads, an aluminum intake manifold, HEI ignition distributor, and a modern serpentine belt system, the engine offers outstanding reliability and significantly improved performance while maintaining a clean, factory-inspired appearance. The powerful big-block delivers the kind of effortless torque and unmistakable exhaust note that enthusiasts expect from a serious Chevrolet performance car. Backing the 427 is a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, giving the driver complete control while dramatically improving highway drivability over the original transmissions available in 1967. The combination of the high-performance crate engine and modern five-speed gearbox transforms this Super Sport into a car that is equally comfortable on long-distance tours as it is cruising local roads. Additional upgrades include power steering and power front disc brakes, making this full-size convertible remarkably easy to drive despite its impressive performance. Power windows add another level of luxury, while the original AM/FM radio remains in place, preserving the period-correct appearance of the beautifully restored interior. The restoration paid close attention to both appearance and usability, resulting in a car that presents exceptionally well throughout. The black power convertible top features a desirable glass rear window and operates as it should, while the original convertible top boot accompanies the car for an even cleaner appearance when the top is folded. The spare tire and jack are also included, adding to the completeness of this impressive Super Sport. Finding a genuine 1967 Impala Super Sport Convertible is becoming increasingly difficult, and examples restored to this standard with thoughtful performance upgrades are even more desirable. The documented frame-off restoration, factory Super Sport pedigree, desirable Granada Gold color combination, rare Z24 hood, powerful 427 ZZ4 crate engine, Tremec five-speed transmission, and included restoration receipts make this an exceptional opportunity for the collector or enthusiast who wants the best of both worlds. Combining investment-quality presentation with modernized drivability and exhilarating big-block performance, this 1967 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Convertible is ready to be admired on the show field, enjoyed on cross-country tours, or simply driven the way a great American muscle-era convertible was meant to be.
