A true icon of compact American muscle, the 1967 Chevrolet Nova SS represents the perfect blend of lightweight performance and understated style—and this example is the real deal. Authentic Super Sport cars from this era are increasingly difficult to find, especially those with documented history, original body integrity, and enthusiast ownership like the one offered here. The Nova SS emerged in the mid-1960s as Chevrolet’s answer to the growing demand for smaller, lighter performance cars. By 1967, the Nova had evolved into a serious street and strip contender, often equipped with V8 power and performance-focused options. Its clean lines and relatively low weight made it a favorite among drag racers and street performance enthusiasts alike—a reputation that continues to fuel its desirability today. This particular California car comes with a compelling story. Acquired by the current owner in 2022 from the estate of a devoted Nova SS enthusiast, it is clear this car benefited from years of passionate and meticulous care. The previous owner spared no expense in maintaining and improving the car, as evidenced by extensive documentation that accompanies the sale. Included are piles of receipts detailing everything from a comprehensive engine rebuild to performance upgrades such as special cylinder heads and an upgraded intake manifold. Even vintage drag strip timing slips are part of the history—offering a glimpse into the car’s past life as a well-loved performance machine. Power comes from a strong-running 327 cubic-inch V8, paired with a desirable 4-speed manual transmission with floor shift. The car is further equipped with a limited-slip differential, making it a true driver’s muscle car. Additional features include power front disc brakes, dual exhaust, and a hinged fiberglass cowl hood that hints at its performance pedigree. Cosmetically, the car presents very well. The body retains its original numbered panels, a highly sought-after attribute among collectors, and remains straight, solid, and rust-free. The paint is of nice quality with a deep finish and includes painted bumpers complemented by well-preserved trim. While there are a few minor paint imperfections noted in the listing photos, they do little to detract from the overall presentation of this standout Nova. The undercarriage is equally impressive—clean, detailed, and reflective of the care this car has received throughout its life. Inside, the car features a tastefully restored interior, including newer upholstery, headliner, and seat belts. Additional functional upgrades such as a battery disconnect switch enhance both safety and usability. Custom aluminum wheels complete the look, giving the car a purposeful stance that matches its performance capability. Having been driven less than 250 miles since its acquisition in 2022, this Nova remains part of a meticulously maintained collection of collectible automobiles.
