Engine sourced from a real 1967 Thunderbird Q Code Car and cam added. A proper frame-off restoration to this level doesn’t happen by accident—and this 1967 Ford Thunderbird is proof of what happens when time, expertise, and respect for originality all come together. The 1967 model year marked a bold evolution for the Ford Thunderbird. Entering its fifth generation, the Thunderbird moved further into the personal luxury segment with more sculpted “fuselage” styling, advanced comfort features, and an emphasis on effortless power. It was a car designed to compete not just on performance, but on presence—and nearly six decades later, this example captures that spirit better than most. This particular Thunderbird has undergone a comprehensive frame-off restoration to true museum-quality standards. In fact, restoration specialist from MI has restored cars for Jay Leno, namely a 1961 Dodge Polara Canadian version. The attention to detail is immediately evident: the body retains its original, laser-straight panels with exceptional fit and finish, dressed in deep black paint accented by tasteful blue pinstriping. The chrome, trim, and badging are flawless throughout—each piece restored or preserved to factory-correct condition. Under the hood sits a beautifully presented replacement 428 cubic-inch V8, topped with a 4-barrel carburetor and finished to factory specifications with aforementioned added cam. The engine bay is immaculate, complete with correct markings and detailing that replicate its original showroom appearance. This powerplant is closely associated with the desirable “Q-code” 428, one of the more potent options available in 1967, rated at approximately 345 horsepower and delivering substantial torque for effortless cruising. While relatively limited in production compared to smaller-displacement engines, the 428-equipped Thunderbirds remain highly sought after for their blend of luxury and muscle-era performance. Power is delivered through a smooth automatic transmission, reinforcing the Thunderbird’s reputation as a refined grand touring car rather than a raw muscle machine. Inside, the car features striking blue bucket seats and a beautifully restored interior that complements the exterior pinstriping. As expected from a top-tier Thunderbird of this era, it is loaded with virtually every available power option: power seats, steering, brakes, antenna, and factory air conditioning. One of the most iconic features—the swing-away steering column—operates flawlessly, moving aside for easy entry and locking securely into place when the door closes. Additional highlights include: Hideaway headlights functioning exactly as designed, AM/FM Studiomaster 8 Track Player including the factory Quadrosonic Sound or Today Demo Tape, spacious trunk with factory jack equipment and full spare, Dialed-in dual exhaust system, , Factory Ford hubcaps with spinners, Every system and feature operating as it should. The underside of the car is as impressive as the top—a true testament to the no-expense-spared restoration featuring all-new suspension components and dual exhaust. This Thunderbird comes from a private collection of meticulously maintained vehicles and has been carefully stored in Massachusetts. It carries a clean title in the owner’s name and presents today as a virtually showroom-new example of one of Ford’s most distinctive personal luxury cars. For collectors who demand correctness, presence, and mechanical excellence, this 1967 Thunderbird stands in a class of its own—an immaculate, investment-grade example that looks today exactly as it did when it first captivated buyers in the late 1960s.
