1968 AMC AMX

390 V8 AMC AMX Automatic Bittersweet Orange PS & PB Factory AC Restored This 1968 AMC AMX is an outstanding example of American Motors' short-lived but highly distinctive two-seat muscle car, offering a mix of originality, performance, and preservation that's hard to find today. AMX #02267 has been garage-kept by the same owner since 1975 and shows just 49,937 original miles. The car underwent a full restoration, preserving its factory-correct appearance while maintaining its authenticity and historical integrity. Finished in its correct 79/00 Bittersweet Orange exterior with vinyl trim code T-832A, the AMX radiates the bold, sporty personality that defined the model when it debuted in 1968. Power comes from its original 390 cubic inch V8 engine paired with an automatic Shift-Command transmission and center console. This drivetrain combination delivers strong performance, while the throaty note from the Flowmaster mufflers adds a satisfying modern edge to its vintage muscle tone. The car rides on factory chrome mag wheels wrapped in red line bias ply tires, giving it the perfect period-correct look. It's also equipped with power steering and the factory “All Seasons” air conditioning system, a rare option that still retains its original operating sleeve attached to the sun visor — a detail that speaks to the car's exceptional preservation. Inside, the cabin remains faithful to its original configuration with features like shoulder belts, factory tachometer, push-button AM/FM radio, the Adjust-O-Tilt steering wheel, and AMC's Visibility and Light Group options. Every element, from the vinyl trim to the instrumentation, reflects the meticulous care given to this AMX over the decades. Sold new at Cherry Hill Motors in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and assembled in Kenosha, Wisconsin, this AMX represents one of AMC's most ambitious efforts to take on Detroit's established muscle car builders. Documentation includes the original window sticker and various factory details that confirm its authenticity. With its long-term single ownership, low mileage, documented restoration, and rare options, this AMX stands as one of the finest examples of its kind. Beautifully finished, well-equipped, and historically significant, it's a turn-key classic that represents the true spirit of the late 1960s American performance era — a car that looks, sounds, and drives every bit as good as it did when new.
