1968 Chevrolet C20 Custom

Description 1968 Chevy C20 Custom – Building on the successful first series of C/K pickup, Chevrolet launched a revised version in 1967. Coil springs remained at all four corners beneath the restyled 1967 Chevy C10, but a crisp, clean pickup appeared on the outside, and in some opinions the new Chevy looked even more modern than its half-ton Ford rival, which was also updated that year. Both Stepside and Fleetside availability carried over from 1966, and revised grilles continued to represent new model-year calling cards up through 1972. The 1967 and 1968 model years are each unique for a few reasons. The 1967 C/K trucks had a small rear window and the cleaner look of no side marker lights, while the 1968 C/K pickups continued to use the grille integrated with the front fascia yet with the minimally visually intrusive side marker lights and a large back window. Today, this generation of Chevrolet C10 and K10 are some of the most loved collector trucks extant, and for good reason. They are drop-dead gorgeous, have timeless styling, possess good build quality, and are easily drivable in modern traffic. Furthermore production numbers were large and they were home to several of the same engines used in popular Chevy cars, meaning maintenance, restoration, and upgrades are all relatively easy endeavors. All years of this generation of Chevy pickup were offered with either a stamped steel box floor or wood planking. When they were new working trucks, the steel floors tended to be more popular, but today a wood bed truck brings a premium in the market. To say that this C20 is “… definitely something you don’t see everyday” is an understatement. Even with the thousands produced, it is extremely hard to locate one with great patina and no rust. The builder of this truck set out to maintain the iconic good looks of this ’68 Chevy but like most, he desired a comfortable interior and a powerplant that could keep pace with modern traffic. The truck still retains the original Saddle & Off-White paint and original wood bed. While the interior looks original it features; new black Snowden seat, dash, door panels, door gaskets, floormat, steering wheel, retro radio, and several other small components. Under the hood you will find sound dampening insulation and an electric fan. But the most impressive thing you will find is a 4BT Cummins Turbo Diesel that was rebuilt 11k miles ago. The motor is paired with an automatic 4L80E Monster Trans w/ Compu-shift (CS2) and an Eaton Ho52 Differential. The electronic transmission is programmable and the previous owner states the C20 will do 20-25mpg on the highway. A complete list of features and options includes; 4BT Cummins Turbo Diesel Swap, Programmable 4L80E Trans, 2wd, 3/4 Ton, Transmission Cooler, New Fuel Cell, Vintage Air, Dakota Gauges, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Chrome Mirrors, Ceramic Tinted Windows, Vent Windows, Tachometer, Hayes Brake Controller, Full Spare, Rear Steel Bumper, Tow Package (7k lb), 16″ Factory Steel Wheels (fresh powdercoat), and New Cooper Discoverer HT3 265/75/R16 Tires! Try to find another C20 that looks this great after 58 years and drives with modern day reliability.
