Description
It began as Chevrolet’s answer to the Mustang—a long-hood, short-deck pony car that hit the streets for 1967 and refined itself just enough in 1968 to stay sharp. Side-marker lights appeared, vent windows disappeared in favor of Astro Ventilation, and the grille grew a little more pointed. Under the skin it was still pure first-generation Camaro: unibody with a front subframe, the right proportions, and that unmistakable stance that still turns heads nearly sixty years later. This particular ’68 received a newer restoration that focused on making it solid, reliable, and fun to drive rather than chasing a numbers-matching trophy. A fresh Chevrolet 350 V8 sits under the hood, topped with a new aluminum intake and a Holley four-barrel. Dual exhausts exit behind it. The automatic transmission is in place, and the center console is present. Brake lines, cables, gas tank, and transmission lines are all new. Air shocks and a fresh set of tires complete the mechanical refresh. The paint is new as well. Market comps for similar restored 1968 Camaros currently sit in the low-to-mid $60,000 range. This example was appraised on August 28, 2026, by Shawn Owens of American Classic Appraisal Services, with the sales-comparison approach supporting a value consistent with other well-restored first-gen Camaros of the same era. It’s not a dusty survivor or a full-on concours show car. It’s a cleaner, newer-restoration Camaro that has had the usual age-related items addressed so it can be driven and enjoyed. The long hood, the cowl, the short rear deck, and that classic first-gen profile still do exactly what they were designed to do in 1968: look fast standing still and feel even better once it’s rolling.
