1968 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Coupe

Vehicle Description 1968 Chevrolet Corvair Monza $21,900 Zoom Classic Cars proudly presents this beautifully restored 1968 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Coupe, a distinctive late-production example of one of Chevrolet\'s most innovative and misunderstood automobiles. Showing just 79,767 original miles, this Corvair has undergone a meticulous restoration that blends factory styling with tasteful custom touches, resulting in a car that is equally at home at local cruise nights, regional shows, or weekend drives.By 1968, the Corvair had evolved into one of the best-handling American cars of its era. Featuring its unique rear-mounted, air-cooled flat-six engine and fully independent suspension, the Corvair offered a driving experience unlike anything else produced by Detroit. Today, these late-model Monza coupes have developed a loyal following for their styling, engineering, and affordability in the collector car market. Finished in a stunning Metallic Blue with Silver accent stripes, this Corvair presents beautifully. The paint has an excellent shine, the body panels are straight and solid, and the panel fit is outstanding throughout. Chrome, stainless trim, lenses, and exterior badging are all in excellent condition.Adding a sense of humor to the restoration are the custom \"SS\" badges which appear on the exterior, steering wheel, and interior door panels. Chevrolet never produced an SS version of the Corvair, and the builder intentionally created this playful tribute as an \"SS wannabe\"—a lighthearted nod to Chevrolet\'s larger V8-powered Super Sport muscle cars. It\'s a conversation starter that never fails to bring smiles.Power comes from the legendary 164 cubic inch Turbo-Air 110 horsepower air-cooled flat-six, paired with a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. The engine compartment is exceptionally detailed and beautifully finished, featuring a painted engine bay accented with extensive chrome including a chrome Delcotron 12-volt alternator and chrome air cleaner. A new Delco battery has been installed, and a brand-new full-size spare tire mounted on the factory steel wheel is neatly housed in the engine compartment. Inside, the cabin has been restored to near-new condition with brand-new blue vinyl seating front and back, matching door panels, and fresh carpeting installed over a Dynamat-insulated floor for improved comfort and sound control. A matching center storage console with integrated cup holders adds convenience while maintaining the period appearance. Corvair-logo carpeted floor mats complete the presentation. The dash features the desirable full gauge package, with all gauges functioning properly with the exception of the clock. The distinctive Corvair dash-mounted shift controls remain in place, preserving one of the model\'s unique design characteristics. The headliner is excellent, while entertainment comes from a retro-style AM radio paired with two rear package tray-mounted Pyle speakers. Additional interior features include: * Front and rear seat belts, * Excellent glass throughout,* Smooth operating windows,* Fully functional heater,* Completely reworked and professionally organized wiring beneath the dashboard. The front luggage compartment is every bit as impressive as the rest of the car. It has been refinished and painted to the same high standard as the exterior and houses the brake booster and windshield washer reservoir while still providing generous cargo space. Underneath, the Corvair is very clean and solid and was professionally undercoated during restoration for long-term preservation. Completing the look are newer Uniroyal whitewall radial tires mounted on attractive Corvette-style chrome Rally slotted wheels fitted with Chevrolet logo center caps, giving the car a subtle custom appearance that perfectly complements the \"SS\" tribute theme. This Corvair starts easily, runs smoothly, drives confidently, and handles exactly as these late-model Corvairs are known to do. It represents a unique opportunity to own a meticulously restored example that combines originality with tasteful personalization and outstanding attention to detail. The car is currently stored in Massachusetts and is being offered with a clean Massachusetts title in the owner\'s name, the original owner\'s manual, and a car cover. If you\'re looking for a beautifully restored late-model Corvair that stands apart from the crowd while honoring Chevrolet\'s rich performance heritage with a touch of humor, this Monza \"SS\" deserves your attention.
