1968 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible

This custom 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is powered by a custom-built 1,054hp McGunegill Performance 598ci V-8 engine with a custom Kinsler fuel-injection system, mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. The naturally aspirated engine was engineered to run on 97-octane pump gas. A custom Chassis Concepts frame incorporates C7 Corvette suspension and a rear differential. Handcrafted stainless-steel headers and exhaust were built specifically for the car and incorporate an exhaust bypass system that allows exhaust to be routed around the mufflers. C7 Corvette brakes provide stopping capability. The Corvette rides on OEM 2019 Corvette Z06 wheels and tires. Paul Atkins Interiors created the custom interior. Nearly three years were devoted to the frame-off build, with every nut and bolt replaced and components selected, fabricated, finished or installed as part of the project. In September 2020 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, this Corvette became the first restomod Corvette to earn Bloomington Gold Certification.
