1968 Ford F100

1968 Ford F100 Ranger Pickup Truck 360 V8 Automatic Factory AC Shortbed The 1968 Ford F-100 Ranger represents one of the most recognizable generations of Ford's classic pickup lineup, combining straightforward mechanicals, handsome styling, and the comfort upgrades that made the Ranger trim especially desirable. This two-wheel-drive example has benefited from an older restoration and presents today as a strong, attractive driver with a recently overhauled FE-series V8 and a nicely detailed engine bay. Power comes from the correct Y-code 360 cubic-inch FE V8 equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and backed by a durable C6 automatic transmission. The previous owner recently overhauled the engine, giving the truck an important mechanical refresh and helping ensure strong, dependable performance. Dual exhaust provides the right V8 sound and adds to the truck's classic cruising personality. Built at Ford's Kansas City, Missouri assembly plant, this F-100 has been refinished in Poly Red, which presents with a warm orange hue, over Wimbledon White. The two-tone combination works especially well with the truck's clean body lines and traditional styling, giving it the kind of period-correct appearance enthusiasts expect from a late-1960s Ford pickup. The truck rides on steel wheels with hubcaps and radial whitewall tires, completing the classic look without making the presentation feel overdone. Overall, the exterior shows very well and reflects the care invested during the older restoration. Inside, the Ranger benefits from several comfort and convenience features that make it more enjoyable to drive. A tilt steering column provides improved driving position and ease of entry, while a retro-style radio adds modern listening capability without taking away from the vintage feel of the dash. The truck is also equipped with the factory four-way flasher option, a nice period detail. Factory air conditioning is present, although the system currently needs a recharge or conversion before returning to operation. Importantly, the system holds vacuum, which is a positive sign for anyone planning to bring the A/C back into service. A new heater core has also been installed, further improving the truck's comfort and usability. Under the hood, the engine compartment has been detailed and presents cleanly, allowing the recently overhauled 360 V8 to be shown off with pride. The combination of a strong-running FE engine, automatic transmission, dual exhaust, and power-oriented Ranger trim makes this truck a great candidate for weekend cruising, local shows, or simply enjoying as a classic pickup. This is not represented as a fresh concours restoration, but rather as a very appealing older restoration that still shows great overall. The mechanical updates and thoughtful comfort features make it easy to enjoy, while the two-tone paint, whitewalls, and steel wheels preserve the vintage character that makes these trucks so popular. With its Y-code 360 V8, C6 automatic, recent engine overhaul, factory air conditioning, tilt column, detailed engine bay, and attractive Poly Red over Wimbledon White finish, this 1968 Ford F-100 Ranger offers an excellent blend of classic styling and everyday drivability. It is a handsome, well-sorted pickup that is ready for its next owner to drive, show, and enjoy.
