Description
The Mercedes-Benz 250SL is the rarest of the three W113 "Pagoda" roadsters, produced for just over a year between December 1966 and January 1968, with only 5,196 built worldwide. It bridged the original 230SL and the later, more common 280SL, combining the 230's timeless Paul Bracq styling with real mechanical upgrades: a 2.5-liter fuel-injected inline six pulled from the 250SE sedan, four-wheel disc brakes, and a stiffer, more capable chassis. Its short production run and low numbers have made it a favorite among Pagoda enthusiasts and collectors who want the classic 230SL look with meaningfully improved performance and stopping power. The distinctive concave hardtop — the source of the "Pagoda" nickname — remains one of the most recognizable silhouettes in postwar automotive design.
This particular example has undergone a complete frame-off restoration and presents in red over a tan/beige interior, a classic and highly desirable color combination for the model. Both the removable hardtop and the hubcaps were painted to match the body color, giving the car a cohesive, monochromatic look from every angle.
