Description
This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR is one of 1,053 fastback examples produced for the model year, approximately 530 of which were finished in Acapulco Blue. It was built on July 16, 1968 and delivered new to Johnny Bolton Ford of Maitland, Florida. The car is powered by a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and is equipped with the GT Equipment and Decor Groups along with functional hood scoops, a rear spoiler, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, 15″ wheels, a Flowmaster dual exhaust system, simulated woodgrain trim, a tilt-away steering wheel, a Sport Deck folding rear bench seat, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. This GT500KR was acquired by the current owner in 2020 and is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner , with a Deluxe Marti Report, the owner’s manual, service records, delivery documents, and a clean Arizona title. The GT500KR was added to the Shelby American lineup mid-way through the 1968 model year and shared its styling with the GT500 but was fitted with a higher-powered 428ci Cobra Jet engine. Exterior design elements include an SMC fiberglass hood with a functional ram-air scoop, grille-mounted Lucas lights, a rear spoiler, sequential taillights, and air scoops on the quarter panels.
