Description
This car was purchased new in January 1969 in Burbank, California, by my uncle, who passed away in 2011, and the car was inherited by my aunt, who passed away in 2014. My uncle and aunt moved to Illinois from Burbank, California, after my uncle and aunt retired in Burbank, around 1990, and they resided in Illinois until death. My uncle drove the car on nice days until his health declined in his later years. The Corvette convertible has the removable hard top, not the soft top. My uncle kept a lot of the maintenance and repair records for the Corvette, which I have retained. My uncle paid to have the Corvette professionally repainted in the original Fathom Green color in 2001, and retained the receipts. My aunt never drove the Corvette. I purchased the Corvette from my aunt's estate in 2014, and licensed the car in Texas, where I am a resident, as an antique vehicle, and the car is still licensed and insured in Texas. The car is currently stored in a trailer in a shed at my farm in Illinois. I run the Corvette exclusively on locally-purchased 93 octane premium unleaded pump gasoline, which eliminates almost all knock and run-on. I periodically drive the car for a few miles in nice weather, and have mechanical maintenance and repairs done on the car, in Illinois. In early 2019, I paid to have the fuel pump replaced, the transmission gear shifter linkage adjusted. In late 2019, I stored the car temporarily in a shipping container on my farm in Illinois, where the relative humidity was high, which caused the speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure gauge, and water temperature gauge, to stop functioning, and I have not tried to get those instruments working, but have not checked the fuse block for blown fuses. Original driver seat has a small tear in the vinyl, which has not been patched. The windshield wipers and AM-FM radio did not function when last checked. In summary, the car has a very nice exterior appearance, drives and runs nice, but the gauges need a little work.
