Description
This 1969 Lamborghini Islero is one of 100 examples of the S variant produced during a single year of production. Chassis 6558 is said to have spent time in Switzerland before remaining under Dutch ownership through the 1990s and early 2000s, and it later spent several years on display in Kuwait. The car again changed hands in 2022 and was purchased by the selling dealer approximately one month ago. Finished in blue-green metallic, the car is powered by a 3.9-liter quad-cam V12 that breathes through six Weber carburetors and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Additional features include servo-assisted disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, 15” Borrani wire wheels, black leatherette and beige cloth upholstery over 2+2 seating, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and Jaeger instrumentation. This Islero S is now offered in North Salem, New York, with a tool kit and a clean Texas title. Introduced at the 1968 Geneva Auto Show, the Islero shared many of its underpinnings with its predecessor, the 400 GT, including a shorter, lighter version of the 400 GT’s 2,550mm-wheelbase tubular chassis and the V12 engine also utilized in the Miura. The Islero’s bodywork featured panels provided by Carrozzeria Bertone with assembly handled by Carrozzeria Marazzi. Named after a Spanish fighting bull, the Islero was produced in two versions, with the S variant entering production in 1969 with revisions including a larger hood scoop, six fender vents on each side, flared fenders, round side markers, fog lamps mounted ahead of the grille, front quarter windows, an air vent on the left sail panel, tinted glass, and a heated rear window.
