Description
This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A was ordered new from Mr. Norm’s Grand Spaulding Dodge of Chicago, Illinois, in July 1970. The coupe is one of approximately 2,400 examples produced to homologate the model for competition in the SCCA’s Trans-Am series. T/A-specific equipment included a flat-black fiberglass hood with a functional scoop, a rear spoiler, longitudinal black stripes, and a side-outlet dual exhaust system. Power is supplied by a 340ci V8 that is fitted with triple Holley two-barrel carburetors and teamed with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in Hemi Orange with a black vinyl roof over black vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes a Sure-Grip differential, Rallye 15″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, a center console, a Slap Stik shifter, an AutoMeter tachometer, and a Pioneer cassette stereo. The seller purchased this Challenger T/A in June 2026 after it had spent years in Minnesota. It was subsequently offered on BaT in September 2026 , and is now being offered again at no reserve with 1970 purchase paperwork, a broadcast sheet, an owner’s manual, awards, and a Minnesota title under the seller’s LLC. The car was purchased from Grand Spaulding Dodge on July 28, 1970, for a total price of $4,554.75. The original owner received a $1,200 credit from trading in a 1967 Ford Mustang convertible. Additional paperwork from the original 1970 purchase is presented in the photo gallery below.
