Description
This European-market 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 coupe was reportedly brought in the 1980s to Japan, where it was kept in a private collection before it was imported to the US circa 2017. Acquired by the seller on BaT in July 2020 , the car is refinished in silver over black leather, and it has a floor-shifted four-speed automatic transmission, a sunroof, power front windows, four-wheel disc brakes, 14″ steel wheels, Behr air conditioning, refinished wood trim, and a Becker Europa II radio. Work under current ownership included removing side markers, fitting Bilstein shocks, installing fresh front-seat foam, car cover and replacing the timing chain, ball studs, rocker arms, and valve cover gaskets for its 3.5-liter V8. This W111 coupe is now offered by the seller with service records from current ownership, factory books and manuals, new floor mats and a clean Maryland title in the name of the seller’s LLC. Delivered from the factory in Moss Green (834), the car was repainted its current shade of silver during previous ownership. In 2021, the side markers on the front fenders were shaved, and the sunroof mechanism was replaced. Features include a power antenna, dual side mirrors, and chrome wheel arch trim. Paint meter readings are provided in the gallery below.
