Description
This custom sedan was created by Dave Walden and his ECS Automotive Concepts company in the early 2010s based on the hypothetical concept of what a Plymouth Barracuda four-door might have been like if Chrysler Corporation had built such a car for the 1970 model year. The build utilized the roof and pillars of a 1972 Dodge Coronet sedan but otherwise used modified reproduction parts or custom-fabricated components. The steel-bodied vehicle was completed in early 2017 and was exhibited at the SEMA Show later that year. Powered by a 340ci V8 paired with a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission, the vehicle is finished in Rallye Red over black vinyl upholstery. Features include a black vinyl roof, styled 14″ road wheels, red-line tires, bench seats, and an AM radio. The selling dealer acquired the car in September 2026. This one-off Barracuda-style four-door sedan is now offered in Michigan with marketing materials from ECS, fabricated 1970-esque paperwork, magazines featuring the car, and a Pennsylvania title that describes the vehicle as a 1970 Plymouth four-door. Plymouth never manufactured a Barracuda sedan, but a former Chrysler employee recounted in 2006 that he saw a prototype of such a car at the automaker’s Highland Park, Michigan, facility in 1969. This information partially inspired ECS Automotive’s founder and president Dave Walden to craft the conceptual car offered in this auction beginning around 2010.
