1971 GMC Jimmy Super Custom

Vehicle Description 1971 GMC Jimmy $72,000 "Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas-Fort Worth is thrilled to present this standout example of GMC's premier open-air utility vehicle: a 1971 GMC Jimmy. While many off-roaders of this era were stripped-down workhorses, this specific Jimmy was ordered with an impressive list of factory options that made it a leader in both performance and luxury. This vehicle represents the peak of the ""Action Line"" styling, a favorite among collectors for its rugged proportions and iconic GMC-specific front fascia. Under the hood sits the powerhouse of the GMC lineup-the LS9 350 Cubic Inch V8. This high-torque small block provides the reliable muscle needed to tackle any terrain. It is paired with a heavy-duty SM465 4-speed manual transmission, featuring a legendary ""granny-low"" first gear that provides incredible crawling capability. The mechanical pedigree continues with a G80 Positraction rear axle for maximum traction and factory-ordered Manual Locking Front Hubs, ensuring you have mechanical control over the 4WD system when the pavement ends. This Jimmy was built to be a true ""go-anywhere"" machine, equipped from the factory with a Heavy-Duty Front Spring package and a steel Skid Plate to protect the undercarriage during off-road excursions. The exterior is finished in the quintessential 1971 hue of Medium Olive, a metallic green that perfectly captures the spirit of the early 70s. This Jimmy features the Z84 Super Custom Sport Truck (CST) trim, which was the highest trim level available. This package adorns the truck with polished stainless-steel moldings and chrome accents that distinguish it from a standard utility vehicle. Topping it off is the factory-specified Auxiliary Top in White, a heavy-duty fiberglass hardtop that is fully removable for those who prefer the wind-in-your-hair experience. The greenhouse is finished with factory Tinted Glass all around, providing a comfortable cabin environment even under the Texas sun. Step inside, and you will find a cabin that has been thoughtfully updated while respecting its heritage. Though originally delivered with Parchment vinyl, the interior now features a striking Black Vinyl theme with Green inserts, a custom touch that beautifully complements the Medium Olive exterior paint. This Jimmy was ordered with the Z53 Gauge Package, meaning the driver is treated to a full factory instrument cluster including an Ammeter, Oil Pressure, and Temperature gauges, rather than simple warning lights. The interior is rounded out with a full Rear Bench Seat and matching center seat belt, allowing for five-passenger adventures. Modern ease of use is provided by factory Power Steering, making this short-wheelbase 4x4 surprisingly nimble in city traffic or on tight trails. This 1971 GMC Jimmy is a rare find, balancing a numbers-matching feel with an upgraded aesthetic. From the AM Pushbutton Radio still in the dash to the G78x15 Belted Tire specifications noted on the original SPID, this truck is a testament to how GMC once built the ""Professional Grade"" SUV. It is a robust, highly-optioned, and visually stunning piece of American 4x4 history that is ready for its next owner to take it to the lake, the trails, or the local car show.
