Description
This 1971 Volkswagen 1302 cabriolet was purchased new in Germany in early 1971 by a member of the 1 Wing Canadian Armed Forces, who took the car and moved to Northern California in mid-1972. The seller purchased the vehicle from that original owner in September 2026. Finished in yellow over black vinyl upholstery, the Beetle is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a black convertible top, 15″ steel wheels, hubcaps, and an Alpine cassette stereo. This Bug is now offered with 1971 purchase paperwork, service records dating back to 1971, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. Marketed as the Super Beetle in the US market, the European 1302 model was the top offering in the Beetle lineup in 1971. This example is finished in yellow and features a flat windshield, dual side mirrors, rear-fender stone guards, bright trim, chrome bumpers, and dual tailpipes. The black convertible top has been replaced and exhibits two tears. The seller states that the car was involved in a “fender bender” decades ago, and repairs were performed to the driver side. A rust spot is noted low on the body, the front end is chipped, and other imperfections are pictured in the gallery below.
