1971 Volvo 1800E Base

This 1971 Volvo 1800E is here on consignment from a Naples local who purchased it from its original owner in 2013. He is a longtime Volvo collector with a 14-car collection. He is Swedish by birth and plans to move back to Sweden to be with family. Hence the car is for sale.

By 2013 the seller wanted to change things up. He wanted sleek Italian styling. He wasn't willing to give up his Volvo heritage to get it. The 1800 was the answer, and he already knew which one he wanted.

The original owner bought this 1800E new in 1971 and lived with it in Massachusetts. He had the car extensively restored by a specialty Volvo shop, which photographed the work in detail. He kept it in his garage under a cover to protect and preserve it. He turned down every offer on it.

Later in life he moved to Naples and joined the local Volvo club, where our seller was already a member. That is where the seller first saw this 1800E, at car shows and club dinners. In his late eighties, arthritis finally made the clutch too much for him. When the seller found out the car was finally available, he didn't haggle. He named a number the original owner would have been foolish to turn down. The 1800E was home with the seller by the end of the week.
