Description
This custom 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS Pro-Touring is powered by a Chevrolet Performance 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 crate engine paired with a Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission equipped with an American Powertrain Pro-Fit kit and Hydromax hydraulic clutch. The drivetrain features BRP Hotrods billet engine mounts and a Strange Ford 9-inch Positraction rear end with 3.73 gears. The engine compartment features a smoothed and shaved firewall finished in body-matched Hugger Orange, custom Chevrolet-script valve covers, a Be Cool heavy-duty aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, an Anvil Auto carbon-fiber closeout panel and a Billet Specialties Tru Trac polished serpentine system. A Rick's Vaporworks stainless-steel fuel tank is also fitted. The custom 3-inch MagnaFlow exhaust system features Stainless Works ceramic-coated headers and is recessed into the floor pans. The chassis features Detroit Speed QuadraLink rear suspension, adjustable coilovers, front coilover suspension geometry and subframe connectors. The rear wheel wells have been mini-tubbed by Detroit Speed to accommodate 335-series rear tires. Stopping is handled by a Baer 14-inch six-piston system with Hugger Orange calipers, a Detroit Speed proportioning valve and an E-Stopp electronic parking brake. The exterior underwent a rotisserie restoration and is finished in Hugger Orange by Britt Nichols of Nichols Paint & Fab. Custom metalwork includes smoothed, triple-plated chrome front and rear bumpers by Ogden Chrome with concealed mounting hardware. Additional features include Fesler Built flush-mounted frameless front, rear and side glass, custom billet LED taillights, marker lights, turn signals and Detroit Speed headlights. It rides on custom-forged three-piece modular Fikse wheels. The custom interior was completed by Justin Stephens, formerly of Kindig-It Design, using eight full-grain black leather hides. Interior equipment includes Morris Classic Concepts three-point seat belts, a custom center console with cup holders, Vintage Air climate control, Dakota Digital VHX instruments, a Budnik steering wheel with tilt column, push-button start and Nu-Relics power windows. Sound insulation includes Dynamat Xtreme and half-inch Dynaliner. The audio system features a Helix V8 amplifier, Helix digital signal processor, Focal K2 door speakers, rear Focal mid-bass drivers and a concealed 12-inch JL Audio subwoofer. Electrical wiring and initial engine tuning were performed by Lane Sukawaty, formerly of Kindig-It Design. The build was completed over 15 years by a retired U.S. military veteran with 33 years of service. It retains its original factory Identiplate and 1972 owner's manual. Awards include First Place at the Boise Roadster Show, Best of Show at a local car show and Judges' Favorite recognition as a Top 30 selection among 972 registered entries at the Cache Valley Cruise-In.
