Description
Description 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle 2-Door Hardtop SS Trimmed and with a 454co Big Block! Here's a car that has baffled many. I have been doing classics and especially Chevys (Chevelles) for many many years and have heard of THIS particular car many years ago. Is it an unicorn? Some may say, Yes! Others will emphatically go against it. I personally think it's simply a very cool and desirable Chevy to own regardless if it was born this way. In this era of Custom Cars and TV shows of cars being built to the max or tribute to those godly behemoths of years past; This '72 certainly covers a segment well. All the hoopla is because there is a 'Y' in the 5th digit where it represents the Engine Code. You see, back in 1972 experts and known databases say there should have been a 'W' for the 454ci Big Block V8. Over the years we've had many of them and they were all great cars. So IS THIS CHEVELLE! What makes this one intriguing is that without going as far as getting the builder and the assembler and original owner and build sheets and tasting the diferential gear oil and the carbon from the engine oil as it is absorbed by inner block walls of the engine; Everything is heresay and as most should including myself err in the side of disbelief. I have had my share of calls from people whom simply have way too much time on their hands or simply just want to hear themselves preach how they know so much and how everyone else is wrong on variety of other vehicles. Some make sense but unfortunately most are indeed senseless rants. Here's what we are representing,,, a very well preserved and mildly restored Chevelle with a big block 454 that has matching stamps to VIN number on car. It is legal and yes we have title that states that same VIN. No, nobody pulled the wool over the DMV's eyes. 1st- There had to have been legitimate state documentation serialized in order to issue updated and ownership transfers throughout the years, 2nd- If the car was re-VIN for whatever reason, it had to have been investigated and certified by the DOT legitimizing the validity of such. And,,, 3rd- If the intent was to glorify and increase valuation, the VIN would have been changed to appease those whom are looking for justification of what is. It is an SS at heart with all the correct trimmings that anyone would expect from a Chevelle SS and with a Big Block Engine. It also has AIR! We did acquire this car as part of a package from George whom purchased it from the last owner of 25yrs whom did not alter the car. If you follow the timeline as I did and 'I kinda do this for a living' The Chevelle is indeed a car that has not been touched anytime in recent years. Most likely part restoration was done in the late 80's maybe in the early to mid 90's. That being said,,, Why would anyone but 'My Dad's Generation' change Serial Numbers and not go further to increase valuation. I can answer that! I have personally sat accross from a GM Employee ordering a New GM car and saying to his family members that we don't need AC because we have windows and it robs us of gas mileage and power from engine. Also have heard the same logic regarding Insurance Premiums and other Frivolous Options.. This Classic Car Business, though lately filled with many flippers with stories of "The 'Ol Neighboor's Car, Or My Aunt's Car" and Title Jumpers is always Intriguing and Fun due to these findings and believe me they are not in short supply. If you buy this car, as I would and did without batting an eye. You will get a very nice and stout Chevelle. It is a Big Block 454 equipped with air conditioning and SS Trim! You can drive it anywhere you wish and it is priced right. I personally love the many years of discussion on this vehicle regarding its authenticity. (makes it that much more special as far as I am concerned) We are a reputable dealership and sell many cars worldwide. Give us a call or stop in. This Chevelle is that nice and will make someone extremely Read More
