Description
This 1972 Datsun 240Z remained with its first two owners in Virginia for more than 40 years, one of which was a NASA engineer who operated a Datsun-Z specialty shop, per the seller. After spending approximately 15 years in storage, the seller acquired the car in 2013 with the goal of refurbishing it with his father. The pair completed the multi-year refurbishment project in 2020, which involved performing a bare-metal repaint in metallic silver and gray and refreshing the red interior in addition to rebuilding the 2.4-liter inline-six, servicing the four-speed manual transaxle, and updating suspension components. Additional features include a rear disc brake conversion, a custom-fabricated grille and bumperettes, and 16″ König wheels. Now showing 83k miles, this 240Z is offered with refurbishment records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name. The body was stripped to bare metal before rust in the floorboards and quarter panels was cut out and replaced with sheet metal, after which the car was refinished in metallic silver with dark gunmetal gray accents. A custom front grille with integrated fog lights was installed along with a body-colored rear bumper without bumperettes, and the C-pillar badging, window trim, driver-side mirror, weatherstripping, rubber seals, window felts, door handles, marker lenses, and headlight gaskets were replaced. A paint blemish is reported on the right side of the hood near its 240Z badge.
