Description
The work performed on this 911T was approached with an emphasis on sympathetic preservation, respecting the car’s originality, numbers-matching character, original Viper Green color, and factory specification. Rather than subjecting the car to a complete bare-shell or rotisserie restoration, attention was focused where needed while preserving as much of its original character and history as possible. The result reflects a careful balance between restoration and preservation, supported by extensive documentation. The car is finished in its original Viper Green, having been repainted under previous ownership. The quality of the bodywork and finish presents very nicely, with straight panels, tight and consistent fit, and a smooth, refined paint finish without noticeable flaws. The 15-inch Fuchs wheels were restored, as were the suspension, braking, and steering components. These systems were completely disassembled, with individual components blasted and either powder-coated or zinc-plated as appropriate to replicate their original factory finishes. Period-correct, factory-optional Bilstein Sport dampers were also installed. The numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six underwent a comprehensive rebuild using OEM Mahle pistons and cylinders. The cylinder heads were rebuilt, valve and valve-guide clearances were addressed, rocker shafts and associated hardware were renewed, and the camshafts were inspected and polished as required, along with replacement of the timing chains, tensioners, and numerous other wear components. The mechanical fuel-injection system was likewise comprehensively refurbished, including a replacement MFI pump sourced and rebuilt by Gus at Pacific Fuel Injection. NOS injectors, and restored associated hardware and linkages. Final tuning was performed by Renn Werks in Asheville, North Carolina. The factory air-conditioning system was overhauled and upgraded using Griffiths components.
