Description
Running and driving 1973 Opel GT project car. Acquired by seller's family in late 1980s, was a father/son restoration project in early-mid 1990s, where the vehicle underwent restoration. Per my memory, complete engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, interior refresh. The vehicle was fitted with a 32 36 DGEV Weber Carburetor, replacing stock Solex unit. Petronix electronic ignition installed, as well as uprated alternator. At the time, car was repainted from original Rallye Gold to Stratos Blue Metallic and refitted with black interior. Starting procedure involves turning key to on position and pushing an auxiliary start button.
Recent work includes refitting Weber gasket kit, adding inline electric fuel pump and replacing fuel lines. Car rides on aftermarket American Racing wheels with outdated tires that require replacement.
Vehicle is powered by the original 1.9L inline four with 4-speed manual transmission. The eponymous rotating headlamps are functional. I had been addressing body rust and replacing sheet metal panels; there is still work to do on this end.
