Description
Introduced in 1970 as Porsche’s new mid-engine entry-level sports car, the 914 combined lightweight construction, a removable Targa roof panel, and a low center of gravity with distinctive Karmann-built bodywork. This 1975 Porsche 914 is finished in Copper Metallic over a brown leather and orange tartan fabric interior, and is powered by an upgraded 1.8-liter air-cooled flat-four paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Formerly displayed as part of a private 128-car museum collection assembled by the owner of a national restaurant chain, the car features a bespoke interior inspired by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch tradition, raised PORSCHE rocker-panel lettering, and a quad-tipped Borla exhaust system. Its engine was reportedly rebuilt in 2012 at 105,226 miles, and the car is accompanied by a custom luggage piece trimmed to complement the interior. Following the recent closure of the museum, this distinctive 914 is now being offered for auction on behalf of the late collector’s family in Florida.
The bodywork was repainted in its original Copper Metallic (L99K) under previous ownership and is reported to remain in very good overall condition. Exterior details include pop-up headlights, fog lights, black front and rear bumpers, a removable Targa roof panel, black vinyl-covered sail panels, polished dual side mirrors, rocker panels with raised colored PORSCHE lettering, quad exhaust tips, and a PORSCHE-logo reflector panel spanning the rear between the taillights. The seller reports that the Targa top seals remain in excellent condition with no known water leaks. The car rides on 15” Baby Fuchs alloy wheels fitted with tires that are said to remain in excellent condition with no immediate need for replacement. Additional exterior details and the condition of the paint, trim, glass, and wheels are documented in the gallery.
