Vehicle Description 1976 Pontiac Trans Am $44,900 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am - 400 V8 / 4-Speed / Red with Gold Bird This 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is an iconic second-generation F-body finished in bright red with the unmistakable gold-and-black hood bird, gold Trans Am graphics, shaker hood scoop, rear spoiler, Rally-style wheels, and black bucket-seat interior. It has the look, sound, and attitude that made the mid-'70s Trans Am one of the most recognizable American performance cars ever built. Powered by a 400ci Pontiac V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, this Trans Am delivers the kind of analog muscle car experience collectors still chase today. The combination of a Pontiac V8, manual gearbox, shaker hood, raised white letter tires, and classic Trans Am styling gives this car the right personality from every angle. Exterior The red exterior gives this 1976 Trans Am a bold and unmistakable presence. The body is accented by the signature gold-and-black Trans Am hood bird, gold Trans Am callouts, side graphics, fender air extractors, front and rear spoilers, and the functional-looking shaker hood scoop that defines the Trans Am look. The car has all the right visual cues: aggressive front fascia, round headlights, wide stance, flared wheel openings, full-width rear spoiler, and the iconic second-generation Firebird profile. The gold graphics over red paint create a striking color combination that stands out immediately and gives the car a proper period-correct muscle car feel. Wheels & Stance This Trans Am rides on factory-style Pontiac Rallye wheels wrapped in Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 raised white letter tires. The wheel and tire combination fits the car perfectly, giving it the right vintage performance look while adding a little extra visual attitude. The stance is classic Trans Am - low, wide, and muscular - with the fender flares, spoilers, and shaker hood scoop all working together to give the car its unmistakable road presence. Interior Inside, the black interior keeps the car clean, sporty, and correct to the Trans Am personality. The cabin features black vinyl high-back bucket seats, a matching rear seat, black center console, black carpeting, and a black/polished three-spoke Pontiac Formula sport steering wheel. The machined-style dash panel houses the factory Rally gauges, giving the driver a proper performance-oriented cockpit. A chrome 4-speed shifter rises from the center console, making it clear this is a driver's Trans Am. The pushbutton-style radio and classic interior trim complete the vintage Pontiac feel. Engine & Drivetrain Under the shaker hood is a 400 cubic-inch Pontiac V8 finished in correct-style Pontiac blue paint on the engine block, intake, heads, and valve covers. The engine is topped with a four-barrel carburetor and paired with a dual exhaust system that exits through quad rear tips. Backing the 400 V8 is a 4-speed manual transmission, one of the most desirable features in any classic Trans Am. The combination gives this car the sound, feel, and control that makes these cars so engaging to drive. This is the kind of powertrain setup that gives the Trans Am its character - strong Pontiac torque, a shaker scoop in your line of sight, and a manual gearbox connecting the driver to the car. Steering, Brakes & Driving Feel This Trans Am is equipped with Variable Ratio power steering, helping make the car easier to handle while preserving the classic muscle car feel. These cars were known for their handling balance compared with many other cars of the era, and this one has the right equipment to be enjoyed on the road. The Firestone raised white letter tires, Rallye wheels, dual exhaust, and 4-speed drivetrain give it the right combination of vintage style and driver-focused attitude. The Drive This 1976 Pontiac Trans Am is exactly the kind of car people picture when they think of '70s American muscle.
