1977 Ford LTD

1977 Ford LTD 2-Door Coupe 2 Owners Since New 400 V8 By the late 1970s, Ford's full-size coupes had become rolling expressions of comfort, style, and effortless highway cruising, and this 1977 Ford LTD Coupe is a remarkably well-preserved example of that era. With only two owners since new, believed-original Polar White paint, a beautifully maintained red interior, and an unmodified presentation throughout, this LTD offers the kind of originality that has become increasingly difficult to find. Finished in its factory Polar White, the exterior retains what is believed to be its original paint. That alone makes this Ford especially appealing, as so many full-size cars from the period were either used up, repainted, modified, or simply lost over the decades. The finish presents honestly, with minor stone chips and age-related imperfections consistent with a car that has been carefully driven and preserved rather than restored. Those small signs of use add to its authenticity and help tell the story of a genuine survivor. The long hood, formal roofline, generous proportions, and clean two-door profile give the LTD an unmistakable presence. This was a time when full-size American coupes were designed to make every trip feel substantial, and the LTD delivered with a combination of understated luxury and traditional Ford styling. Whitewall radial tires complete the period appearance and suit the car's elegant personality perfectly. Inside, the red interior provides a striking contrast to the Polar White exterior and remains one of the strongest features of the car. The upholstery, dashboard, trim, and overall cabin show exceptionally well, reflecting years of careful ownership and protection. The interior retains the spacious, comfortable atmosphere that made these cars such excellent long-distance cruisers, with wide seating, excellent visibility, and the relaxed driving position expected from a full-size Ford. The original clear floor mats are also included, a small but meaningful detail that further supports the car's well-preserved character. Power comes from Ford's 400 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission. The combination delivers smooth, quiet power and the effortless low-speed torque that made these cars ideal for highway travel. This LTD was not built to be a high-strung muscle car; it was designed to settle into the road and provide a comfortable, composed driving experience. Power steering and power brakes make the car easy to handle, while the suspension offers the soft, confident ride that defined the American luxury coupe during this period. Factory air conditioning adds another desirable convenience, although the original R12 system currently needs to be recharged or serviced. Retaining the original-style system is an important part of the car's authenticity, and servicing it would further enhance an already enjoyable cruiser. What makes this LTD particularly appealing is how little it appears to have been altered. It has not been transformed into a custom, modified for modern trends, or subjected to an unnecessary restoration. Instead, it remains an honest two-owner example that reflects how Ford built and equipped these cars in 1977. For enthusiasts who appreciate preservation, originality, and the increasingly uncommon sight of a full-size two-door American coupe, this is exactly the kind of car that stands out. The LTD presents well enough for local shows and cruise nights while remaining approachable enough to enjoy regularly. Its minor exterior imperfections are consistent with its age and believed-original finish, and they allow the next owner to drive it without the concerns that often accompany a freshly restored show car. It starts, runs, and delivers the smooth road manners that make these cars such pleasant weekend companions. With its two-owner history, believed-original Polar White paint, exceptionally clean red interior, 400 V8, factory air conditioning, and unmodified presentation, this 1977 Ford LTD Coupe represents a rare opportunity to own a genuine survivor from an era when personal luxury and full-size comfort ruled the road. It is an increasingly hard-to-find classic that is ready for shows, cruises, weekend drives, or preservation as an authentic piece of 1970s Ford history.
