Description
Offered From the Family of an AMC/Jeep Research and Development Supervisor · Lot J145 · Kissimmee 2027 - 1977 Jeep J10 Extended Cab Prototype - Offered from the family of an AMC/Jeep Research and Development supervisor who helped create it, Harold "Pete" Johnson - Built on a Wagoneer frame and a Cherokee Chief cab that had second-row seating and created as an engineering exercise to explore a potential extended cab Jeep Pickup configuration before it became commonplace - After it was built and not utilized, the truck was intended for the crusher before Johnson decided to store the truck in a back room of the Toledo plant and concealed in a file room for many years - At the time of Johnson's retirement, he was allowed to purchase the vehicle for $1 and trailered it home - The truck has remained in the care of Johnson and his family since - The passenger seat was custom-built to lean forward to allow for passengers to get into the rear seat area - Extensive nut-and-bolt restoration completed to as-built specs - At the time of the restoration, it was discovered the word "special" was written into the frame rail - Refinished in Golden Ginger Poly using Wanda refinishing materials - Since the completion of the restoration, it has been exhibited at the Toledo Jeep Fest, the AkzoNobel booth at SEMA (where it was given the name "The Unicorn") and the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival - Toledo Engineering parking pass affixed to the windshield - Vintage photos included - Verified by Zack Heisey at Z&M Jeeps
