Description
Introduced in celebration of the Corvette’s 25th anniversary, the 1978 model brought a significant update to the decade-old C3 design with a new fixed-glass fastback rear window that improved aerodynamics, rearward visibility, and luggage capacity, while commemorative Silver Anniversary emblems, a redesigned interior, and updated powertrain offerings further distinguished the model year. This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in Mahogany Metallic over a Doeskin beige interior and is powered by a 350ci L48 V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, removable roof panels, sport mirrors, air conditioning, a power antenna, a tilt/telescoping steering column, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. Purchased by its longtime owner in 1991, the car underwent a frame-off restoration completed in 1994 and is now being offered for auction in New York.
For 1978, the Corvette’s exterior was distinguished by a new fixed-glass fastback rear window and unique Silver Anniversary crossed-flags emblems fitted to the nose and fuel door. The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Mahogany Metallic and features matching removable roof panels, pop-up headlamps, fender vents, a cowl-induction hood, dual sport mirrors, a power antenna, and 15” eight-slot alloy wheels mounted with 2016-dated General tires. The seller indicates the car was completely refinished as part of its 1994 restoration and that the paint remains in very good overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
