Description
The King Cobra option was available only in 1978 model year Mustang II models. A visual package that was designed to compete with the Trans Am and Z28 cars of the time, it included a unique front air dam, rear wheel flares, and brake cooling ducts along with a decal package. Unique color keyed13" wheels were also installed that matched the pinstriping. This car is riding on Enkai 15" wheels with 205/50R15 tires. The original wheels are included in the sale as is the original 302 2bbl engine and 4sp transmission. Also included are the decals and pinstripe tape that are not on the car at this time. I have owned this car for 21years and put many miles on it as an unrestored car. It recently underwent an extensive restoration including NOS sheet metal, new upholstery, and new carpets. The engine is a .030 over 302 with cam, headers, intake and 750cfm Holley double pump carburetor. The transmission is a T-5 5sp, Hurst shifter and B&M shift knob with new clutch. The exhaust is stainless steel utilizing a 2015 Mustang GT resonator after the headers and a Cherry Bomb turbo muffler at the back. The car was delivered to the dealer without a radio and has been returned to that condition, the mounting bracket is in the dash but note that there are no speaker cutouts in the door panels, they are present in the doors. The air conditioning components are all present but there is a leak that has not been diagnosed, and the system is not charged. The rear window defroster is semi functional, but several grid lines are damaged. Glass is all original Carlite tinted. Storage has been in a heated garage during my ownership. Car has been driven 630 miles since this spring and will be driven additional miles as time and weather permit. I had purchased a King Cobra new in 1978, totaled it in 1979 then purchased this car in 2005 as a midlife "wish I'd had more time with that car" project. With retirement now upon us it's time for some one new to enjoy this car.
