1980 Mercedes-Benz 500SE Base

This is a grey market Mercedes-Benz specifically imported into the United States in 1980 for Don D. Schlup, a sod farmer in Colorado. It is equipped with an off-road package (code 430). After Mr. Schlup passed away, the vehicle sat for quite a while before it was eventually acquired from the estate for $5,000 by a former employer in 2019, who added new tires and a fuel pump, evaporator, accumulator and fuel filter. I purchased the vehicle earlier this year and changed the oil, added a headlight switch, hood emblem and had a Mercedes shop perform a comprehensive inspection. Apparently the vehicle needs more work done than I am capable of affording to get done. I'm selling this as a running project car. It will be a beautiful car once fully restored.

As a European 1980 500 SE, it was equipped with a Fisher sound system (now inoperable) with multiple speakers in the rear & on the side of the transmission tunnel. It has front power windows (passenger side sticks a bit) & wind-up windows in the back. Dash is cracked. Wood trim around transmission lever in poor condition.
