Description
This 1981 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe is a RoW example that was sent to RUF of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, in 1991 to become one of approximately 25 customer-supplied Porsche chassis converted to CTR specification. The car was returned to RUF in 2013 for a refurbishment and was again refurbished by RUF in 2023 while under the ownership of a former Formula One team owner. Finished in Grand Prix White over widebody lightweight panels, the car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3,367cc flat-six that is mated to a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Additional features include an oil cooler, cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes, staggered-width 17” RUF wheels with body-color centers, a fixed rear spoiler, an integrated roll cage, Recaro fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in black leather with Pepita cloth inserts, a manual boost controller, and a Webasto heater. This RUF CTR-specification Carrera was purchased by the selling dealer in September 2026 and is now offered in Costa Mesa, California, as part of the Iconic Collection from Private Collection Motors , with letters from RUF Automobile and the previous owner, specification sheets, an uninstalled Sabelt six-point harness, a tool kit, a maintenance booklet, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Montana title. The CTR, or Group C Turbo RUF, was introduced in 1987 and soon earned acclaim after topping a field of contemporary supercars with a speed of 211 mph during Road & Track magazine’s top-speed shootout at Volkswagen’s test track in Ehra-Lessien, Germany. Carrying forward the “Yellow Bird” nickname given to the test car by journalists at the Road & Track event, the CTR made further waves in RUF’s 1989 promotional video “Faszination on the Nürburgring.”
