These are getting increasingly rarer to find as time passes on and are a great, relatively inexpensive entry point to getting something no one else has on the road with an engine that's actually fun to work on and survive past the apocalypse. The most rudimentary visual test is the “cap dance” test that’s synonymous with any OM617/A engine which is why I included it in the video since everyone will ask for that test. It’s an excess of pressure coming from the crankcase on the high compression diesel engine. Valve guides, piston rings, or a clogged breather element. The engine will run indefinitely when properly maintained. In 2008 it states that this particular vehicle had over 143,000 miles, in 2008. How did the miles go down too 112,000. What is the actual mileage on this car?
