Description
This 1982 Pierce Arrow fire truck was produced for the Clackamas Fire District in Oregon, where it was used in service and training, and it is noted to have remained in private ownership for 15 years. It features a canopy cab that has been repainted red and white with New York City Fire Department decals, and the fire apparatus is equipped with a hose bed, a water monitor, a hydraulic ladder rack, scene and emergency lights, and water pump controls. Power is provided by a 12.1-liter Detroit Diesel V8 paired with a four-speed Allison automatic transmission, and the vehicle rides on an Oshkosh chassis, a dually rear axle, and 20″ red-finished wheels over air-actuated brakes. The cab houses a driver’s suspension seat trimmed in black upholstery along with a reading light, a heater, a Motorola CB microphone, and a Federal Signal Corporation siren/PA system. The water pump was disconnected before the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2026. This Arrow pumper truck shows 113k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve in Washington state with various firefighting equipment, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oregon title. Introduced by Pierce Manufacturing of Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1979, the Arrow cab was the first aluminum custom cab-forward model used by a fire apparatus manufacturer. The cabs were initially mounted on Oshkosh or Duplex chassis, and Pierce became the sole manufacturer of the chassis and body circa 1982. This example was repainted red and white from its initial yellow and silver color scheme in the 1990s, and FDNY decals and other emergency graphics were added in 2026 to commemorate the firefighters who responded on September 11, 2001.
