Description
A rare coachbuilt convertible, this 1984 Ferrari 400i was converted to open-top form by Richard Straman of California. The 400i is a Pininfarina-designed 2+2 grand tourer powered by a 4.8-liter V12 with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in red over tan leather, this Straman convertible has recently undergone an extensive recommissioning and is now being offered for auction in Oklahoma.
Finished in red, this 400i wears Straman's convertible conversion, with the power-operated top now operating manually. The seller describes the paintwork as beautiful and states that it has received a full paint correction and ceramic-coating treatment. The car rides on new correct-specification Michelin tires. The seller notes the top's hydraulic rams were removed after their seals failed and could not be rebuilt, and that suitable replacement rams are available for anyone wishing to restore power operation. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Click here to view the previous PCARMARKET listing.
The interior is trimmed in original tan Ferrari leather, which the seller describes as being in exceptional survivor condition, never re-dyed and free of shrinkage. Equipment includes power windows and air conditioning, and the seller notes everything functions aside from the clock. A NOS Ferrari speedometer and tachometer were installed during the recommissioning, with the originals retained; the seller notes the original speedometer failed and the NOS unit was installed at zero, so accurate mileage requires combining the two readings.
