Description
KEY FACTS This W460-era Mercedes-Benz 300GD Cabriolet is a rare and rugged early-generation G-Wagen, reportedly benefiting from refurbishment work during the current and previous ownership. It is powered by a 3.0-litre naturally aspirated inline-five diesel, paired with a five-speed manual transmission and selectable four-wheel drive. First registered in November 1984, this is an original UK-delivered car. The odometer indicates 46,000 miles, though this is not the total mileage. The seller notes that the original speedometer was replaced at approximately 40,000 miles in 1989, and the replacement unit subsequently recorded approximately 46,000 miles before it became faulty and is not functional. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES This is a rare G-Wagen variant on UK roads, with the seller reporting that there may only be around half a dozen 300GD Cabriolets of this era currently registered on UK roads. It is finished in Desert Sand Beige (464) over a beige and black interior with period-correct Karo Tartan cloth seats. A new Mohair soft top was manufactured and fitted by Cass Bros, Bromley. It rides on 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, fitted with LT235/70R16 Comforser CF1100 all-terrain tyres. Equipment includes front and rear differential locks, a new mohair soft top, a folding rear bench seat, and headlamp and wing-indicator guards. Accompanied by service documentation shown in the photo gallery, some invoices, the original handbook, a wheel safety lock, and two keys. CONDITION Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the tailgate requires some further work to make it fit correctly, there is bubbling to the doors, and there are small areas of rust blistering beneath the windscreen and other minor rust patches. The body has various dents, blemishes and scars consistent with its age and previous working life, and the paintwork has some runs and would benefit from a professional machine polish. The s
