DescriptionTruly Born As a "Pantera 'Wide-Body" GT-5" ONLY 7,400 Actual Miles Some very cool history was able to be found and gathered for this Urban Cat as we got our investigative juices flowing...1985 DeTomaso Pantera GT5—one of ONLY 116 GT5s produced according to the Pantera Owners Registry—represents a unique period in the history of the marque. https://pantera.infopop.cc/topic/gt5-and-gt5-s-production-numbers As beautiful and brutal as the De Tomaso Pantera was when it debuted in Modena in March 1970, Alejandro de Tomaso was determined to improve on his Ford 351 Cleveland-powered dream machine. In 1975 Ford stopped importing them into the U.S. Enter Wisconsin businessman and quintessential car guy George Stauffer, who assumed importation of the new Pantera GT5 in the early 1980s. The GT5 was the most aggressive-looking Pantera to date, with fiberglass fender flares, spoilers, and imposing rear wing, all typical of FIA Group 5 practice, and vastly improved performance. Iconic as it can possibly be with the mixed message tagline 'The American Lamborghini Countach' Maybe because of the proven performance Ford powertrain that is nearly bullet proof compared to its closely related euro counterpart. This GT5 is Gorgeous and shows remarkably well giving its owner much to be proud of. This Pantera is powered by Coveted Cleveland 351ci V-8 mated to a ZF five-speed manual transmission and features power brakes and rack-and-pinion steering. Finished in red, this muscular GT5 looks ready for action with its dramatic fiberglass rear delta wing. Ford Motor Company and the Lincoln-Mercury Division officially ceased importation of the Pantera into the U.S. in 1975, shortly after discontinuing American production of the 351 Cleveland engine, the powerplant fitted in the Pantera. Undaunted by the separation from Ford, Alejandro de Tomaso would continue production of the Pantera in Modena, Italy, from 1980-85 as the GT5. The Pantera GT5 was a limited-edition model that would continue to use the Ford Cleveland 351 engine that was now sourced from an Australian supplier. It was visually discernable from the predecessor Pantera cars as a “wide-body” iteration with its bonded and riveted-on fiberglass fender flares, lower rocker-panel side skirting, integrated front air dam and large fixed rear wing. The GT5 also featured a revised chassis, better brakes and a more luxurious interior cabin with wood-grain appointments. Presented in a bright yellow exterior with ultra-wide Campagnolo wheels affixed with three-prong knock-off spinners, this Pantera GT5 is an imposing sight to behold. Despite its muscular appearance, it is well-equipped with creature comforts, including air conditioning, power windows, tinted glass and supple leather seating. Some call it an Unicorn, others a Super Car, even heard the term Sexy... I would probably say that it's a "Super Sexy Unicorn" One thing We can Probably All Agree On is it's Rapidly Appreciating and There's Not Many in Existence! https://pantera.infopop.cc/topic/gt5-and-gt5-s-production-numbers Thank you for looking at our Pantera GT5 Read More
