Description
Ferrari introduced the Mondial in 1980 as a mid-engine 2+2 built on a longer wheelbase than the 308 GTB, with Pininfarina styling and a transversely mounted V8 driving the rear wheels through a five-speed transaxle. The Quattrovalvole update followed for 1982, adding four-valve cylinder heads to the 2.9-liter V8, and the Cabriolet arrived for 1983, giving Ferrari an open four-seat model. With Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and dual overhead camshafts per bank, the Quattrovalvole V8 was rated at 240 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque.
This European-market 1985 Ferrari Mondial Quattrovalvole Cabriolet is one of just 629 QV Cabriolets produced worldwide from 1983 through 1985, and it was reportedly imported to the U.S. in 1986. Finished in Rosso Corsa over beige leather with a black soft top, it combines Pininfarina's open-top 2+2 design with Ferrari's transversely mounted 2.9-liter F105A four-cam, 32-valve V8, a gated five-speed manual transaxle, and a limited-slip differential.
The car rides on 17" five-spoke alloy wheels and is equipped with air conditioning, power windows, and an Alpine CD stereo. The battery and passenger-side window switch are said to have been replaced under current ownership, and the seating surfaces were reupholstered in beige leather prior to the seller's ownership, preserving the traditional Rosso Corsa-over-beige Ferrari color combination.
