KEY FACTS This BMW Hartge H35-24 is an exceptionally rare and exciting 1980s performance saloon. It is powered by a modified 3.6-litre naturally aspirated 24-valve straight-six derived from BMW’s ‘M88’ engine family, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed Getrag manual transmission with first gear to the bottom left of the shift pattern. The seller states that the engine’s bottom end was replaced in 1990 following a failure, using a competition-derived 3.2-litre bottom end subsequently converted to 3.6-litre specification by Hartge. No documentation referring to the increased engine capacity increase is available. A recent rolling-road test reportedly recorded 280hp and 385Nm of torque. One of six built, the car was first registered in Finland and is now registered in France. The odometer indicates 84,056 km, which the seller believes to be genuine. This example is finished in a timeless shade of black with contrasting silver ‘Hartge’ side stripes, over a black part vinyl and grey cloth-trimmed interior, featuring houndstooth inserts on the seats and door cards. It rides on a set of 16-inch Hartge multi-spoke alloy wheels fitted with mixed tyres. Equipment includes a complete Hartge exhaust system, front and rear Hartge bra
