1986 Buick Grand National

This 1986 Buick Grand National is one of those cars that needs very little introduction. Black paint, black trim, turbo power, and that unmistakable G-body attitude, the Grand National became a legend because it looked mean, ran hard, and did things differently than the traditional V8 muscle cars of its time. If you know these cars, you already know why clean, mostly stock examples continue to be so desirable.Power comes from the factory turbocharged and intercooled 3.8-liter V6, paired with an automatic transmission. For 1986, the Grand National received the intercooled setup that helped make these cars seriously quick for the era, and the result is that signature wave of turbo torque that still makes them fun today. Mechanically, this car remains stock, which is a major plus for buyers looking for an honest Grand National that has not been heavily modified or raced out.The upgrades are tasteful and easy to appreciate. It features a Kenne Bell air intake, giving the turbo V6 a little more breathing room while keeping the car's overall character intact. The lighting has also been improved with OEM-style LED headlights, offering better visibility while preserving the factory look. These are the right kind of updates, useful, subtle, and not overdone.Inside, the car keeps its factory radio in place, which is exactly what you want to see in a clean Grand National cabin. At the same time, it has been upgraded with Bluetooth and an improved speaker system, giving you modern audio convenience without cutting up the classic interior feel. It is a nice balance of originality and everyday usability.Other than those tasteful upgrades, this Grand National is fully stock, and that is what makes it special. So many of these cars have been heavily modified over the years, so finding one that still keeps its factory personality is getting harder. This one has the look, the attitude, and the right restrained updates to make it even more enjoyable.Key Highlights:1986 Buick Grand NationalLegendary turbocharged G-bodyFactory turbocharged/intercooled 3.8-liter V6Automatic transmissionMechanically stockKenne Bell air intakeFactory radio retainedBluetooth addedUpgraded speaker systemOEM-style LED headlight upgradeMostly stock and unmodified overallClassic blacked-out Grand National appearanceHighly desirable 1986 intercooled model yearThis Grand National hits the sweet spot: mostly stock where it matters, lightly upgraded where it makes sense, and still full of the character that made these cars icons.
