1986 Oldsmobile 442

1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 - 307 V8 - Sunroof - Only 27,014 Original Miles This 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 is an exceptionally preserved example of one of the last true rear-wheel-drive Oldsmobile performance coupes, showing just 27,014 original miles since new. Backed by a clean Carfax report with recorded mileage and an actual mileage New Jersey title, this car represents a rare opportunity to own a low-mile survivor that was clearly cherished from day one. With only 4,273 examples produced for 1986, the 442 was already recognized as something special when it debuted, and time has only reinforced its status as a modern collectible. Power comes from the 5.0L 307ci high-output V8, fed by a computer-controlled four-barrel carburetor and paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The drivetrain is complemented by a desirable 3.73 geared limited-slip rear end, giving the car strong acceleration and confident highway manners. It delivers the kind of smooth yet responsive performance that made these late G-body performance cars so enjoyable to drive. Power-assisted steering and brakes add to the easy, comfortable driving experience, while working air conditioning and cruise control make it a pleasure on longer trips. Finished in black over beautiful gray cloth upholstery, the car has a timeless, muscular presence. The paint appears to be approximately 75 percent original, with the hood showing some signs of age in the finish that are consistent with a well-preserved survivor rather than an over-restored car. The stance is set off perfectly by 15-inch chrome Super Stock III wheels wrapped in four new tires, giving the car a crisp, factory-correct look. A factory sunroof adds an extra touch of desirability and open-air enjoyment. Inside, the interior truly stands out. The gray cloth cabin shows like new, reflecting the car's extremely low mileage and careful ownership. Features include a center console, power windows and door locks, a tilting steering column, and a power-adjustable driver seat. A factory AM/FM cassette stereo completes the authentic 1980s cockpit feel. Recent maintenance includes a new headliner and a replaced oil pan gasket, helping ensure the car is as pleasant to own as it is to admire. The 1986 442 occupies a unique place in Oldsmobile history as one of the final expressions of the classic 442 formula, blending performance, comfort, and everyday usability in a sleek G-body package. This example captures that spirit perfectly, combining originality, low mileage, and careful upkeep. It is the kind of car that enthusiasts recognized as a future collectible the moment it hit showroom floors in 1986, and today it stands as a prime example of why. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this 442 offers an outstanding chance to own a beautifully preserved piece of Oldsmobile performance heritage that is ready to be driven, shown, and enjoyed.
