1987 Buick T-Type 3.8 Liter Intercooled Turbo V6, Low Miles

Vehicle Description 1987 Buick T-Type $36,987 1987 Buick Regal T-Type Hardtop, 3.8 Liter Intercooled Turbo V6, 46,158 Believed Original Miles, Original Engine, Silver Metallic, Long-Term Collection Car The turbocharged Buick Regals of the 1980s have become some of the most respected performance cars of the era, and this 1987 Buick Regal T-Type is a fantastic example of why. Combining understated Buick styling with serious, turbocharged performance, these cars earned a reputation that continues to grow with collectors and enthusiasts today. Finished in factory Color Code 12 Silver Metallic with a Gray Cloth Interior, this Regal has the perfect sleeper appearance. Unlike the instantly recognizable all-black Grand National, the Silver Metallic exterior gives this turbo Buick a much more subtle look while hiding essentially the same legendary turbocharged performance underneath. Power comes from its Original 3.8 Liter SFI Intercooled Turbocharged V6 Engine. For 1987, Buick's LC2 turbocharged engine was factory rated at an impressive 245 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque outstanding numbers for the era and a major reason these turbo Buicks developed such a serious performance reputation. The turbocharged V6 is paired with an Automatic Transmission, providing strong acceleration while still making this Regal comfortable and easy to enjoy on the highway or around town. Buick's combination of turbocharged power, rear-wheel drive, and traditional American comfort created something truly unique during the late 1980s. This particular Regal is also a desirable Solid-Roof Hardtop rather than a T-Top car, giving it a clean, traditional roofline that many collectors prefer. The odometer currently shows just 46,158 miles, which are believed to be original. The car retains its Original Engine and spent a number of years as part of a private collection. Adding to the story, the car was last titled in 2001, which helps explain the unusually low mileage and limited use over the years. The Gray Cloth Interior presents the classic comfortable Buick environment these cars were known for, while the Silver Metallic exterior gives the car a sophisticated appearance that separates it from the more commonly recognized black turbo Buicks. Best of all, this Regal is not simply a car that has been sitting and looking good in a collection it Runs and Drives Great. The turbocharged V6 delivers the unmistakable performance that made these cars famous, while still retaining the comfortable road manners expected from a Buick Regal. 1987 was the final year for Buick's rear-wheel-drive G-body Regal, and Buick saved some of its best performance for last. The intercooled turbocharged 3.8 Liter V6 used in these cars shared its fundamental powerplant with the legendary Grand National, making the Turbo Regal one of the great sleeper performance cars of the 1980s. You get the aggressive performance and legendary turbo Buick drivetrain without the obvious all-black Grand National appearance. The combination of Code 12 Silver Metallic paint, Gray Cloth Interior, solid-roof body, Original Engine, only 46,158 believed-original miles, and years spent in a collection makes this a particularly appealing example. This is the kind of 1980s performance car that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in an honest, largely preserved configuration. It has the history, the look, the mileage, and most importantly the turbocharged performance that made Buick one of the most feared names on the street during the late 1980s. Whether you remember these cars when they were new or have always wanted to add one of Buick's legendary turbocharged G-body performance cars to your collection, this 1987 Buick Regal T-Type is a great opportunity. It is understated, fast, collectible, and simply a very cool piece of Buick performance history.
