1987 Ducati 400 F3 ZDM400R400977 w/ 11,000 miles (17,944 km) | 400cc Pantah Desmo | 6-speed The Ducati 400 F3 is the Japanese-market small-displacement variant of the legendary Ducati F1—sharing the same architecture, race-bred chassis and Taglioni-era character in a lightweight, highly usable package. Essentially a Japanese-market Ducati F1 with a revvier 400cc engine and lighter feel. Powered by Ducati’s rugged Pantah-derived air-cooled belt-drive Desmodromic twin, the 400 F3 delivers the raw, mechanical riding experience that defines classic 1980s Ducatis. Combined with the iconic trellis frame and compact proportions, the result is a motorcycle that feels far more connected and engaging than its modest displacement might suggest. This late-production example benefits from the desirable 6-speed transmission and presents in nice overall condition with approximately 11,000 miles (17,944 km). Increasingly difficult to source—particularly outside Japan—the 400 F3 represents an accessible entry into the world of vintage Ducati sport bikes while retaining genuine period racing pedigree.
