1987 Ford Mustang

Introduced for 1979, the lightweight, rear-wheel-drive Fox platform helped return affordable V8 performance to American enthusiasts and became one of the most influential pony-car architectures of the modern era. Increasing in popularity every year, the Fox platform enjoyed a 14-year production run that ended in 1993.

By 1987, the Fox-body Mustang had already evolved into a performance icon, and the Mustang GT received the most significant update of the platform’s life cycle, gaining a sleek aerodynamic front end that replaced the earlier “four-eye” design, a redesigned interior with updated seats, larger brakes, and numerous other styling changes that gave the car a more modern appearance. Equally important, Ford revised the fuel-injected 5.0-liter High Output V8 with improved cylinder heads and induction components, increasing output to 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque when new.

Finished in black with a beige patterned cloth interior, this Mustang GT features T-tops, the GT ground effects kit, dual exhaust, and a rear spoiler. Inside, it adjustable front bucket seats, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, and a tilt steering column. Under the hood is a 5.0L V8 mated to a five-speed overdrive manual transmission. This 5.0 rolls on 15" cast aluminum 16-spoke wheels, and the seller reports that 3.74:1 rear-end gearing was installed when the car was new.
