1989 Ford Mustang GT 2dr Convertible

Vehicle Description 1989 Ford Mustang $24,997 1989 Ford Mustang GT Convertible — 5.0 HO V8, Full GT Aero Package, Low Miles Why This Car Is Special The 1989 Ford Mustang GT Convertible occupies a specific and well-earned spot in Fox-body history. By 1989, Ford had refined the third-generation Mustang into a genuinely capable performance car, and the GT trim represented the top of that lineup outside of the limited-production 5.0 LX. The 5.0 High Output V8 was putting out 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque that year, numbers that gave the Mustang GT a real performance advantage over most of its contemporaries. Car and Driver consistently clocked the 5.0 GT in the low 6-second range for the 0-60 sprint during this era, which made it one of the fastest cars available at any price point when new. What separates this particular example from the crowd is its condition and its combination of options. The floorpan, suspension components, and frame rails are clean and black, with no rust, no rot, and no evidence of hard use or deferred maintenance. For a 35-year-old convertible, that is a meaningful detail. Convertibles in particular tend to show their age in the structure and underneath, and this one does not. The VIN confirms this is a factory GT convertible built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant, with the 5.0 HO engine and automatic transmission as original equipment. The '45' in the body code position confirms the convertible body style. This is not a coupe converted after the fact. Fox-body Mustang GT convertibles from 1987 through 1993 are among the most collected American cars of the late 1980s and early 1990s, and values on well-preserved, low-mile examples have been climbing steadily. The combination of the full GT aero body kit, the glass rear window, the leather interior, and the near-zero mileage makes this one of the more complete and honest examples of the model you are likely to find. By 1987, Ford had upgraded the 5.0 HO to the sequential electronic fuel injection system — known as SEFI — which replaced the earlier speed-density EFI setup and gave the engine improved throttle response, better cold-start behavior, and more consistent power delivery across the rev range. The intake manifold is the GT-40-style upper and lower configuration that became iconic on these cars, and the valve covers wear the correct 5.0 HO badging in red, white, and blue that Fox-body enthusiasts know well. Paired to the engine is Ford's AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The AOD gets a mixed reputation among enthusiasts who prefer the manual, but it is mechanically sound, includes a true overdrive fourth gear for highway cruising, and suits an open-top car like this one well. The undercarriage photographs show the AOD transmission pan clearly marked with the Ford oval, and the surrounding structure is coated and clean. The rear axle housing and suspension arms have been treated and show no corrosion. The dual exhaust system is in place with both mufflers visible and intact. Braking is handled by front discs with rear drums, backed by power-assisted brakes. Power steering is factory equipment. Interior The 1989 Ford Mustang GT Convertible's interior is finis
