Description
KEY FACTS This Yamaha FZR750R OW-01 is a collectible late-1980s homologation superbike, developed as Yamaha’s road-going basis for competition in the Superbike World Championship, offered for sale by its first and only owner. It is powered by a liquid-cooled 749cc DOHC 20-valve inline-four with titanium connecting rods and Mikuni downdraft carburettors, coupled to a close-ratio six-speed transmission. First registered in May 1989, this example has been with the seller from new. The odometer indicates 2,124 miles, which the owner warrants as the genuine mileage. The seller reports that the bike has never been used on a track, and has always been stored in a heated garage. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES The FZR750R OW-01 was released as a homologation model for superbike racing, and features larger valves, shorter-stroke titanium conrods, larger carburettors, an EXUP exhaust power-valve system, a race-specification chassis, multi-adjustable suspension, twin 320mm brake discs and Nissin callipers. This example is finished in a timeless shade of white with a contrasting red and blue livery and a black seat pad. It rides on a pair of 17-inch three-spoke alloy wheels finished in white and fitted with Michelin M59 tyres. Equipment includes Öhlins suspension. The bike is accompanied by two keys, its handbook, some service history and the factory toolkit. CONDITION Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: there are some very light stone chips on the underside of the seat section above the rear wheel, along with a very small scuff on the lower offside rear area near the exhaust. The seller states that the bike is currently running, though it will require light recommissioning before regular use. The tyres are reported to date from 1989 and should therefore be assessed for replacement as part of the recommended recommissioning. The most recent MOT test was on 19 September 2020 at an indicated 2,121 miles, which resulte
